Izpit CAE lahko opravite po končani stopnji C1. Ta certifikat potrjuje sposobnost sporazumevanja v večini strokovnih, akademskih in družbenih situacij. Izpit CAE je primeren za vse, ki si želijo študirati ali delati v tujini, saj ga priznava večina angleških in ameriških univerz ter delodajalcev.

Izpit CAE se izvaja v klasični papirni obliki (Paper based - PB) ali prek računalnika (Computer based - CB), s čimer se je skrajni rok za prijavo na izpit močno približal datumu izpita, precej hitreje pa so na voljo tudi rezultati. Od prijave na izpit do objave rezultatov lahko tako mine samo 5 tednov!

CAE is an exam for advanced users of English. This exam is aimed at people who can use written and spoken English for most professional and social purposes. It is widely recognised for work or study purposes.

Five papers: Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening and Speaking

Reading (1 hour 15 min.)
You will need to be able to understand texts from publications such as fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspapers and magazines.

Writing(1 hour 30 min.)
You will have to show you can produce two different pieces of writing such as an article, a report, a proposal and a review.

Use of English (1 hour)
Your use of English will be tested by tasks which show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary.

Listening (40 min.)
You need to show you can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including lectures, radio broadcasts, speeches and talks.

Speaking (15 min.)
You will take the Speaking test with another candidate or in a group of three, and you will be tested on your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidate and by yourself.

Glavna razlika je v tem, da se preskus branja, pisanja in poslušanja opravlja na računalniku v računalniški učilnici. Preskus govorjenja pa še vedno izvajajo izpraševalci na enak način kot prej.
